At the time the paper was threatened with closure, Community radio station 2WEB in Bourke purchased the paper, and set about employing people to run it and enlisting volunteers to help with the production of the paper. Outback Radio purchased the paper and have merged the paper with the station so they share editorial resources. It's a labor of love that involves the whole community.

The CBAA welcomes news that changes to governance standard three of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Regulation 2013 have been disallowed by a vote in the Senate today. The changes would have placed charities at risk of being de-registered by the Charities Commissioner, even if they have not broken any laws.
