Insights Analysts, Lina Melhem

Lina is one of the newest members of the CBAA, joining us in a new role to provide support and expertise to ensure that our members and our staff best understand sector data, trends and insights. We welcome Lina to the CBAA and look forward to her working with stations to better understand their audiences!

What drew you to community radio?

Working in community radio seemed more than a job, I felt like there is a purpose to the work. Also, I moved here from overseas and I wish that I know that there are community stations I could connect to, so I thought if I help increase awareness I can help the next person who finds them self in the same situation.

What have you learnt about our sector since commencing your role at CBAA?

Since commencing my role at the CBAA i have learnt that our sector is full of passionate and driven people and that there is so much more I have yet to learn.

You are offered a radio show - you can have any timeslot, play whatever music you like, discuss whatever you feel is of interest - what is happening today on the Lina Melhem Variety Hour Radio Show?

It will be past meet present. I will probably play a lot of 80s rock (big fan of Guns and Roses) and at the same time do reviews of current movies and TV shows in a sarcastic manner - think of the YouTube channel screen junkies and their honest trailers.
