Funding Partners

The Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF)

The Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF) is a not-for-profit organisation funded by the Federal Government to support Australian community media. Each year the CBAA receives approximately $8 million to help broadcasting organisations across Australia tell vital local stories.

The Department of Health

The Department of Health’s National Suicide Prevention and Leadership Campaign has, since 2017, funded the CBAA’s national Community Broadcasting Suicide Prevention Project, which delivers core activities and broadcast content, through the national Community Radio Network, designed to raise awareness of suicide prevention services, link people to help-seeking avenues, and build community capacity to support those at risk.

APRA AMCOS

APRA AMCOS consists of Australasian Performing Right Association and Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society, both copyright management organisations or copyright collectives which jointly represent over 100,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers in Australia and New Zealand. APRA AMCOS’s funding for the CBAA, supports the operational costs of the Community Radio Network (CRN) in distributing high-quality community radio programming featuring high airplay of Australian music.

Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA)

ACMA regulates communications and media to contribute to maximising the economic and social benefits of communications infrastructure, services and content for Australia.

Christian Media and Arts Australia

Christian Media and Arts Australia services members and Christians in Media and the Arts through advocacy, empowering creativity, unity and excellence; to see the hope of Jesus communicated to Australia & beyond.

The Community Media Training Organisation (CMTO)

The Community Media Training Organisation (CMTO) is a registered training organisation which delivers management and media training. CMTO specialises in developing and delivering courses in broadcast and production, as well as training for managers and board members of community radio stations.

	The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications provides an environment in which all Australians can access and benefit from communications services, creative experiences and culture. The Department provides roughly $20.1m per annum to the Community Broadcasting Foundation to develop and support community broadcasting. 

The Organ and Tissue Authority (OTA)

The Organ and Tissue Authority (OTA), on behalf of the Australian Government, leads the national program to increase organ and tissue donation and transplantation in partnership with the DonateLife Network, state and territory governments, organ donation and transplantation clinical sectors, eye and tissue sectors, and the community.

First Nations Media Australia

First Nations Media Australia is the peak body for First Nations not-for-profit broadcasting, media and communications. Founded in 2001 as the peak body for remote Indigenous media and communications, in 2016/17 FNMA undertook a structural change and expanded its membership and role to become the national peak body.

Local and Independent News Association (LINA)

LINA is an industry association supporting digital, hyperlocal and independent news publishers.

LINA’s job is to help digital and hybrid news publishers increase the diversity and relevance of news services in communities across Australia. Their passion is to grow existing, and encourage new, hyperlocal media entrants by providing capacity building support, expert advice and access to critical third-party services, providing a deep level of hands-on support to members.

Powerd Media

Powerd is a new media platform, aiming to showcase Australia's amazing range of quality content by and for people with a disability. 

Powerd is disability-led, aiming to create a media ecosystem to amplify the voices of people with disability, tell authentic stories and be a trusted source of news, information and entertainment. 

Phonographic Performance Company of Australia Ltd (PPCA)

PPCA is a non-profit organisation that provides licences to Australian businesses to play recorded music in public. The net fees are distributed to record labels & registered Australian artists who create the recordings so they can continue to make music for us all to enjoy.

Disability Media Australia

Disability Media Australia is the national peak body for the Radio Reading Network – community radio services dedicated to informing and empowering the estimated 5 million Australians with a print disability.

Spots and Space

Spots and Space is the national media sales partner for Australia’s leading culturally and linguistically diverse media. They connect advertisers with ethnic, indigenous, community and other specialist media by providing a single point of contact for advertisers, and their media agencies, and are endorsed by the CBAA.

The Australian Film Television and Radio School

 The Australian Film Television and Radio School is Australia's national screen arts and broadcast school. The school is an Australian Commonwealth government statutory authority. It is a member of Arts8, the Australian Roundtable for Arts Training Excellence.

All in Media

All in Media are a world leader in smartphone apps for radio stations and visual radio broadcast systems. The CBAA is partnering with AIM to develop an industry app - a one-stop shop for all things community radio.

The Centre for Volunteering

The Centre for Volunteering is the peak body for volunteering in NSW. It's home to a variety of resources, training and tools that support best practice in volunteer management and volunteering.

Charles Sturt University

Charles Sturt University partners with CBAA to produce the National Radio News (NRN) service. NRN is the national news service for the community broadcasting sector, with bulletins produced from a newsroom on the Bathurst campus of Charles Sturt University.

Deutsche Welle (DW) is Germany's international broadcaster and one of the most successful international media outlets. They provide impartial news and information, giving people worldwide the opportunity to form their own opinions, assess issues of local and global significance and participate in social debates as active and informed citizens.

Griffith University

Griffith Uni ranks in the top two percent of universities globally with 50,000 students spanning six campuses in South East Queensland, Australia.
