Ian Watson - Community Education ProgramsThe Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) plays an important role in providing educational and informational programming for a large national audience of almost 5 million Australians each week, promoting greater awareness of important issues such as health, education and environmental issues. Through our Community Education Programs, we provide government agencies, peak bodies and key community service providers low-cost and effective communications campaigns that reach a large and diverse national audience.

We have a strong track record of providing engaging and effective information on a range of key issues to people around Australia. Information on topics such as sustainable living, road safety, legal issues, smoking, dementia, water safety, safety on rural properties, alcohol and drug use, diabetes, nutrition and physical activity has been broadcast and distributed nationally in partnership with organisations including:

  • the Organ and Tissue Authority
  • the NSW Law and Justice Foundation
  • Alzheimers’ Australia
  • the Heart Foundation
  • the Royal Life Saving Society
  • the NSW Environmental Trust
  • the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing

Evaluation of these community education projects shows that they have been highly effective in reaching large and diverse national audiences, resulting in measurable changes in awareness, attitudes and behaviours.
