Sector Roundtable meet April 2020
The Community Broadcasting Sector Roundtable met on Tuesday, 7 April 2020, via Zoom.
The Roundtable discussed a number of points, principally related to the CoVID-19 crisis and its effect on our sector:
- The sector is seeing a dramatic decline in revenue, particularly from sponsorship, but also events and production income. It isn’t yet clear how subscriptions and donations will be affected.
- The CBAA has been providing information on how Government business and charity support can help stations.
- The sector is looking at ways to support stations. In particular, the CBF has embarked on a range of initiatives, including the establishment of a CoVID-19 fund.
- The Roundtable agreed to write to Government to ask to prioritise spending in the sector for public messages about CoVID-19.
The Roundtable consists of representatives from:
- The Australian Community Television Alliance (ACTA)
- Christian Media & Arts Australia (CMAA)
- The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA)
- First Nations Media Australia (previously IRCA)
- The National Ethnic and Multicultural Broadcasters’ Council (NEMBC)
- RPH Australia (RPHA), and
- The Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF)
The Roundtable will meet again in August 2020.
