Community Broadcasting Suicide Prevention Project - March 2016
Welcome to the March 2016 content of the CBAA's national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.
Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.
What's in this month's segments?
This month we:
-
We profile The Brain, a beyondblue campaign that encourages young people and their parents to take action against depression and anxiety.
-
We speak with Suicide Prevention Australia about the importance of community-based approaches to suicide prevention, and profile Communities Matter, a practical online resource for local communities to use to help prevent suicide.
-
Mindframe provides some advice for media around accurate and responsible reporting related to the publication of the ABS suicide data this month.
For more information on this project, please contact the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia on (02) 9310 2999, or email.
