For play: 28 July to 1 November 2025

The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia is pleased to welcome you to the next edition of Your Story, Your Decision, our end of life and palliative care project which has been produced with the support of the New South Wales Government.

End of life and palliative care is something many of us may have encountered in our lives and is definitely something we all need to know more about.

It addresses the needs of people with a life-limiting illness to allow them to live as well and as comfortably as possible, and aims to improve the quality of life for patients, their families and carers by helping the person during their illness through to their death.

In this edition, we learn about the work ACON is doing to assist members of the LGBTQ+ community to open conversations about death and dying and to support and empower the LGBTQ+ community through end of life and palliative care.

We catch up with Advance Care Planning Australia to talk about some new research which reveals that only one in three Australians have taken steps to plan for their future health care.

We hear how Bullinah Aboriginal Health Service is working with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to develop culturally safe place-based education and promotional material about end of life and palliative care.

And we speak with Clare Zachulski, one of the palliative care staff specialists at Westmead Hospital, about why it’s important for people from CALD backgrounds to know more about end of life and palliative care.
