The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia is pleased to welcome you to the next edition of Your Story, Your Decision, our end of life and palliative care project which has been produced with the support of the New South Wales Government.

End of life and palliative care is something many of us may have encountered in our lives and is definitely something we all need to know more about.

It addresses the needs of people with a life-limiting illness to allow them to live as well and as comfortably as possible, and aims to improve the quality of life for patients, their families and carers by helping the person during their illness through to their death.

In this edition, we speak with Clare Zachulski, one of the palliative care staff specialists at Westmead Hospital, about the key information she shares with patients and families from First Nations backgrounds about palliative care.

Palliative Care Australia CEO Simon Waring tells us about the information and resources they provide to help people to learn more about palliative care and the support available to them.

We find out how the Ladybird Care Foundation’s Peer Mentoring program supports, cares for and empowers grieving parents to find hope and purpose after the death of a child of any age.

And we learn about the range of information, support and events ACON provides to assist members of the LGBTQ+ community around New South Wales to find out more about end of life and palliative care.
