For play: 1-31 August 2025
The Community Broadcasting Association is pleased to welcome you to the August 2025 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health.
Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.
This month, catch up with Suicide Prevention Australia to hear about the results of their recent Community Tracker, which shows some recent shifts in the leading concerns and causes of distress for Australians.
We learn about Mindframe’s new guide for media for reporting on child and youth suicide, which aims to support safe and sensitive public communication about this issue.
We speak with Lach Searle, whose story is featured in the When Life Happens, ask R U OK? series, about the positive impact meaningful conversations can have during major life moments such as grief and loss.
We learn more about the positive impacts of ReachOut PeerChat, which provides a safe, digital one-to-one peer support service that allows young people to connect with trained peer workers.
And we catch up again with the Mindframe team to learn how media can use their new guide for reporting on suicide and mental health concerns in LGBTIQA+ communities.
