Community Broadcasting Suicide Prevention Project - June 2025

The Community Broadcasting Association is pleased to welcome you to the June 2025 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

This month, we learn about how Mental Health First Aid courses can equip individuals with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to support someone who is experiencing a mental health problem or a crisis such as being suicidal.

We catch up with the Movember team to hear about the increased funding which will help them to provide more support for the mental health and wellbeing of Australian boys and men.

We learn about the important work MATES is doing to deliver better mental health and wellbeing outcomes for workers in the building, construction, mining and energy industries.

We look at the support Parents Beyond Breakup provides to parents and grandparents experiencing trauma related to family breakdown and separation.

And we profile Roses in the Ocean, a suicide prevention organisation whose heart and soul are people with a lived experience of suicide.
