End of life and palliative care is something many of us may have encountered in our lives and is definitely something we all need to know more about.
It addresses the needs of people with a life-limiting illness to allow them to live as well and as comfortably as possible, and aims to improve the quality of life for patients, their families and carers by helping the person during their illness through to their death.
In this edition, find out about the free, compassionate, and confidential support Griefline provides to all Australians who are grieving.
We learn about advance care planning, which enables you to make some decisions about the health care you would like to receive if you become seriously ill and unable to communicate your preferences or make treatment decisions.
We find out about the important support that volunteers can provide to help patients who are receiving palliative care, and their carers and families.
And we address some of the key myths that exists about end of life and palliative care.
