Program Spotlight - International Women's Day

International Women's Day (IWD25) is coming up (Saturday 8 March) and offers a great opportunity to highlight programs on community radio that focus on women and the issues affecting them.

2MIA will feature a takeover from 1-7pm AEDT on Saturday 8 March featuring music by women.
Every show from 5am to 9pm on Saturday 8 March will feature female presenters, guest DJ’s, academics, authors, poets and music.
  • Accent of Women - This program, which also airs on the Community Radio Network, is by and about women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds with a commitment to progressive politics.
  • Women on the Line - Women on the Line is a national feminist current affairs program which offers a gender analysis of contemporary issues, as well as in-depth analysis by a range of women and gender diverse people around Australia and internationally. It also airs on the Community Radio Network.

3CR will also mark IWD25 with a full day of programming led by women and non binary presenters.

3MDR, in conjunction with Fat Goat, will host and broadcast from an IWD25 gig on Saturday 8 March. The lineup for the day is live music from TIG & Wolf Arrow Rain and DJ sets from Lips That Bite, Sal Sparkles, Joretro and Lady Fern & The Postman.
  • Dykes on Mykes - This program aims to agitate to end homophobia, educate about issues facing lesbian and queer women, and organise to promote lesbian and queer women’s events locally, nationally and internationally.
  • Megaherzzzz - Megaherzzz is 4ZZZ's signature women and feminist show, featuring news, opinions, interviews as well as music from local, Australian and overseas artists.
  • Sisters in Law - Sisters in Law is a collaboration between 8CCC and the Central Australian Women's Legal Service, and provides vital information on the law, women's rights and access to justice.

 8CCC will be broadcasting live from the Alice Springs Equal Futures Fair 5-8pm.

  • She Wasn't Born Yesterday - This program features interviews with an array of high-profile guests, delving into the huge range of issues confronting women who are 40+.
  • Femme Fortissimo - Femme Fortissimo honours the work of female artists, with a focus on local creative women. It also features music, spoken word, interviews and live sets.
  • On the Wing -  On the Wing is a sports show that shines a spotlight on clubs and sports that get less attention in mainstream media, especially ones played by women and gender diverse participants.

PBS will mark IWD25 with a full day of programming by women and gender diverse people, featuring iconic announcers, live performances and special guest presenters.

Print Radio Tasmania

Print Radio Tasmania will celebrate IWD25 with the release of the Women's Voices Project, a collaboration between the station and the City of Hobart which showcases the talent of local female singing groups.

Triple R

Triple R will feature programming by female and non-binary broadcasters from 6am to midnight.

WOWfm will air a range of shows celebrating women in music on Saturday 8 March.
WynFM will feature a program hosted by Deborah Sugirthakumar to celebrate womens' power, resilience and achievements.
