The top award went to Tania Williams of Maclean, who received both the Adult 2017 Northern Rivers Region Volunteer of the Year Award and the overall regional winner’s award for her work with Lower Clarence Community Radio Inc and her wider community.

“Tania is a person with enormous energy and dedication for community projects which is evidenced by the number of hours she has spent volunteering over the years,” CEO of the Centre for Volunteering, Gemma Rygate said.

“Tania brings a certain magic with her wherever she goes. She has a unique personality which engages 100% with the  people and organisations she deals with and when she engages, she does it without judgement. If a project involves the community, Tania believes it is worth doing. She is active and incredibly committed to finding ways to improve our community."

“The Volunteer of the Year Awards recognise the nation working hard at a grassroots level to deliver resilient and compassionate communities,” said Ms Rygate.
