Welcome to the February 2019 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

What's in this month's segments?

  • We learn about a digital care package ReachOut has created to help young people deal with the pressures associated with living in drought-affected communities,
  • We hear about the support the SANE Help Centre provides for people living with complex mental health issues, and those that care about them,
  • We find out how you can make every day in 2019 an opportunity to notice if someone around you is not themselves, and to ask them R U OK?
  • We profile Beyond Blue’s new Be You initiative, which aims to transform Australia’s approach to supporting children’s and young people’s mental health in early learning services and schools; and
  • We look at the important role parents can play in helping young people to prevent or deal with cyberbullying.
