Amrap Chart News: Baker Boy is Back In Control on the Amrap Charts!

Mitch Fuller, 9th July 2019

Danzel Baker AKA Baker Boy returns to the Amrap charts this week with In Control - a joyous, uplifting ode to inner strength, co-wrote by award-winning writer/producer and multi-instrumentalist Pip Norman (Troye Sivan, CXLOE). Featured on the track is the T.I.M.E (Thornbury Instrumental Music Experience) Crew of Thornbury Primary who contribute their raw and energetic vocals. Baker Boy hit number 9 on the Metro Chart this week, not too far behind Sui Zhen with Perfect Place at number 4. The Melbourne-based artist's discography and performances have recently focused in on the intersections between human life and technology and Perfect Place is no exception. The track is obscure, experimental and poppy as though Zhen's digital self is having an existential crisis.

Leading the way atop the Regional Chart this week, Electric Fields bring their seemless blend of pop, electronic and soul to the Lajamanu Teenage Band original, Vision. The unique voice of Zaachariaha Fielding and the spine-tingling electronica of producer Michael Ross merge for a contemporary take on a beloved track. Elswehere, George Maple slides into number 7 with her latest, Magic Woman. Following on from the sucess of Maple's debut LP, Lover - the new track sees her draw inspiration from the end of a relationship and rise triumphantly into an empowered new woman. In her own words - “At an immediate and visceral level, this song was born from the co-dependency of love, sadness and rage. When I look back I was finding my voice, making mistakes, struggling and touching on the truth I'd been hiding from.”

The Amrap Charts show the top ten tracks ordered for airplay by community broadcasters through the Amrap’s AirIt music distribution service in both metropolitan and regional areas of the country.
