POSITION: Audio Editor - Production and Volunteer Support, Wild Horse FM 99.7, Yarraman QLD

Wild Horse FM (99.7FM) is a not-for-profit, community-run radio station serving the Yarraman district and surrounding communities. We are seeking a detail-focused Audio Editor to work behind the scenes, supporting our volunteers by polishing, assembling and preparing recorded audio for broadcast.

Yarraman QLD has a 2021 SEIFA index of relative socio-economic disadvantage (IRSD) score of 908.3, and this means it is among the 10% most disadvantaged areas in Australia.

Our population is an aging one and at the last census the age group of 55+ is above the national average & our younger population is below the national average. Most of the volunteers at our radio station are women aged 55 and above. They choose to volunteer at our radio station as they learn new skills in communication, public speaking & technology. The successful applicant for this role will be supporting this group of volunteers by assisting them to develop interview programs with the end goal being to teach them editing & production skills.

This is an in-studio, part-time role for a 6-month term (January–June 2026), with approximately 156 hours over the period. We expect that hours will build gradually as more volunteers become involved.

  • Provide patient, practical support to volunteers learning audio editing.
  • Help establish clear, repeatable post-production processes.

About you

  • Strong experience with audio editing software (Audacity, Adobe Audition or similar).
  • A good ear for sound quality, pacing and consistency.
  • Comfortable working behind the scenes.

  • Organised, reliable and able to meet deadlines.
