The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) has joined a coalition of independent, regional and community media organisations calling for amendments to the Federal Government’s proposed News Bargaining Incentive legislation. The joint statement supports the intent of the scheme to strengthen public interest journalism, while urging changes to ensure smaller and independent publishers are not excluded from funding opportunities. The coalition has proposed measures to improve media diversity, support underrepresented voices and strengthen the sustainability of Australia’s independent news ecosystem.
