Suicide Prevention Content for Broadcasters - August 2026

The Community Broadcasting Association is pleased to welcome you to the August 2026 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

This month, we look ahead to R U OK?Day 2026 and remind you that if you're thinking it, Ask R U OK? Any Day.

We learn about the support and resources ReachOut can provide to young people to help them to navigate through the ups and downs of relationships.

We find out about the translated resources people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities can access from R U OK? to help them to start meaningful conversations with people they care about.

We learn about the National Mental Health Commission’s 2026 National Stigma and Discrimination Report Card, which shows that stigma and discrimination remain a significant burden for people living with mental health challenges.

And we catch up with Gidget Foundation Australia CEO Arabella Gibson as they mark their 25th anniversary of supporting the mental health of expectant, new and potential parents around the nation.
