Roadmap 2033 Interview with Michelle Rowland MP

The community radio sector’s own independent news service, produced with a community lens

National Radio News (NRN) provides community radio listeners with a respected, valued, and alternate news service. Professionally produced, it delivers hourly news concerning Australia and the world, with a focus on the communities the stories affect.

Why Your Station Needs It?

  • Get a trusted and reliable source of news: NRN has been running for over 25 years from the Bathurst campus of Charles Sturt University. Bulletins punctuate the day, add structure to your programming schedule, and draw in listeners by providing up-to-date news, backed by trusted sources like AAP, BBC, and Deutsche Welle.

  • Give independent and accessible news to your listeners: We have no commercial ties or political agenda and we gather news from a community perspective, reflecting the guiding principles of community broadcasting and the diversity of the Australian community.

  • Reflect your listeners with in-depth regional coverage: Address the needs of all communities, including news from community journalists across Australia and our team of dedicated community radio network reporters based at Parliament House in Canberra.

  • Book-end the news with sponsorship: Using your playout system when accessed via FTP.

What Does National Radio News Sound Like?

  • Designed for under-served audiences: We link local stories to state and national events for a bespoke news service featuring diverse community voices, stories, and perspectives.

  • Get first-hand reports: From our trio of specialist journalists based in the Parliament House Press Gallery: connecting your community to national political stories, First Nations stories, and stories affecting those living with disability.

  • Access news not included in regular CRN subscription: And news gathered by our wider network of reporters delivering daily content.
