Suicide Prevention Content for Broadcasters - May 2025

The Community Broadcasting Association is pleased to welcome you to the May 2025 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

This month, we catch up with Dr Luke Martin from Beyond Blue to find out more about connection between alcohol and mental health.

We find out how burnout can impact on young people and learn about the steps they can take and the support they can access if they’re experiencing burnout.

We learn about Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds, a program dedicated to improving mental health and physical wellbeing in Australia’s road transport, warehousing and logistics sectors.

We find out about this year’s National Suicide Prevention Conference, which is being held from May 20-22 in Perth.

And we learn about the importance of providing more support for the mental health and well-being of current and former Defence Force personnel
