Vale Dan Callaghan
With great sadness we share the passing of our colleague and friend, Dan Callaghan, after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his partner Emma and son Kieran.

Dan was one of the CBAA’s longest-serving team members, dedicating almost 14 years to supporting our members, our team and the community broadcasting sector.

Dan’s journey in community broadcasting started at Brisbane station 4ZZZ where he served as Production Coordinator.

At CBAA he worked behind the scenes in technical roles that were vital to our operations, helping to maintain and improve the Community Radio Network, IT systems and broadcasting infrastructure.

Dan was deeply committed to the CBAA, our members, and the sector as a whole. His kindness and dedication will be missed.

“The community radio sector is powered by people. Behind the on-air voices and sounds, beyond the magic of the technology, there are passionate people making it all work. Dan’s passion, hard work and round-the-clock commitment to the sector was critical for sharing the best community radio programming with listeners across the country.” Jon Bisset, CEO.

A memorial service for Dan will be held on:

Friday 11 July 2025 at 12:30pm
The Wellers Hill Bowls Club
34 Esher Street, Tarragindi QLD

Guests are welcome to wear purple, Dan’s favourite colour, in his honour. A livestream will be available for those who cannot attend in person.
