Stay Informed - Broadcasting Political Matter Ahead of the Federal Election

With the Federal Election set for Saturday 3 May 2025, now is the time for community broadcasters to refresh their understanding of the legal and ethical requirements around broadcasting political content.

What you need to know

The updated Political Matter information page outlines key information and obligations for broadcasters, including but not limited to:

  • What qualifies as political or election matter

  • When and how to include “required particulars” (authorisation details)

  • Licensee responsibilities and record-keeping requirements

  • Rules around election advertising and blackout periods

We encourage you to review the Political Matter page and supporting resources to ensure your station is compliant and election ready.
