Community radio stations are community services – and should be safe places for all members of each community to come together. But sometimes situations crop up that challenge this social cohesion, and it’s how we handle these that can influence our station’s culture, people’s wellbeing and station ability to broadcast.

2022 was a big year in advocacy for the CBAA. We have worked hard to ensure that community broadcasting is front of mind in any government process on emergency management, news, and community resilience. We have cemented strong relationships with policy makers across the political spectrum and secured ongoing funding vital to the sector’s ability to stay on air.

The National Features and Documentary Series aims to encourage storytelling from new and emerging producers around Australia. All you need to enter is a great idea for a radio feature or documentary. Then, if you're selected, you can receive mentoring and training from the Community Media Training Organisation at no cost and be paid for bringing your feature or documentary idea to fruition.

The ACMA has launched an inquiry to establish the core principles that should guide the broadcasting industry’s code development process.
