Suicide Prevention Content for Broadcasters - January 2025

The Community Broadcasting Association is pleased to welcome you to the January 2025 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

This month, catch up with R U OK? CEO Katherine Newton, who reminds us of the importance of asking the people we care about R U OK? every day.

We learn about the work being done by the MATES program to deliver better mental health and wellbeing outcomes for workers in the building, construction, mining and energy industries.

We learn about a new social-series ReachOut and Instagram have launched which explores the challenges and successes families face in today's digital world.

We learn about the mental health assessment and clinical counselling services Open Arms provides for Australian veterans and their families.

And we catch up with the team at Butterfly to learn more about some of the common myths or misconceptions about eating disorders and body image.

For more information on this project, please contact the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia on (02) 9310 2999, or email: [email protected]
