About the role: 

The Local & Independent News Association (LINA) is a newly formed industry association supporting hyperlocal and independent news publishers. This is an exciting opportunity to help LINA grow from its foundational stages and use your wide-ranging skills to shape the role to your career objectives.

We are looking for an energetic all-rounder who can lead projects, support our diverse members, coordinate operations, drive communications and engage with stakeholders and partners.

About the team: 

You will be working closely with the Executive Director and industry partners in a small, developing team. LINA is also recruiting for a Project Officer to complete our establishing crew. LINA receives administrative support for book-keeping, administrative and data reporting activities.

About you: 

The ideal candidate will be a motivated problem-solver bringing amazing organisational skills to this dynamic role. You are a warm communicator with excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. You have good technical knowledge of operating systems and software, and administrative processes. You have demonstrated project management skills and a passion for supporting independent newsmakers. Media industry experience, business development, training and/or communications background will be favourably considered. 

Key Responsibilities: 

The Project Officer will work to grow LINA’s membership base and set up strong administrative processes to support the expansion of member service delivery over time. Initial responsibilities include:

Supporter: Working closely with our member publishers to help develop their capacity and achieve their business objectives.

1.1 Working with members to identify best practice methods and engage with LINA member services 2

1.2 Developing shared calendar resources for events, recognition and resourcing

1.3 Curating an online channel for member information, resources and leads

1.4 Preparing tip sheets, guides, templates and playbooks

Connector: Working closely with the Executive Director to create and implement industry partnerships that benefit LINA members.

2.1 Actively participate in the development of member services

2.2 Implementing member service delivery

2.3 Coordinating member training and networking events

Project Manager: Confident to lead teams, manage multiple deadlines, get hands-on as required.

3.1 Coordinating the annual industry conference

3.2 Support for the LINA media launch

3.3 Supporting member networking opportunities

Communicator: Clear and warm communication to build LINA’s reputation and brand awareness.

4.1 Primary responsibility for day-to-day communications schedule

4.2 Managing LINA’s social media presence and engagement

4.3 Preparing e-newsletters, stakeholder updates and member tip sheets

4.4 Preparing media releases

4.5 Showcasing and amplifying member organisations

Administrator: Strong familiarity with software tools and operational workflows.

5.1 Managing member and communication databases

5.2 Working with support teams to oversee membership processes

5.3 Prepare membership reports

5.4 Develop and implement operational systems for tracking project progress.

The Project Officer will support the implementation of LINA’s strategic goals. This role will evolve over time with the potential to expand to full time in 2023 or stay at part-time pending candidate preferences.

The Local & Independent News Association (LINA) is  looking for someone to provide support to members, primarily on issues of content management, SEO and web design. And also IT support to LINA to implement software systems, integration and automation.


The CBF is seeking an experienced outcomes-focused evaluator to join its team of 10 full-time and parttime employees and more than 100 volunteers. This is a new role that will work closely with our Executive Officer and Grants Support Team to develop, monitor and measure our strategic impact measurement and reporting frameworks.


LINA announces it has appointed Claire Stuchbery as its inaugural Executive Director. Claire joins LINA after a 20 year career in media policy, stakeholder engagement, policy development and communications.
