POSITION: Podcast Coordinator, 3ZZZ & SYN, MEL

  • Salary: $23,712 per annum plus 10.5% superannuation, 15.2 hours per week
  • Terms: Fixed term 12-month contract (with potential for extension)
  • Based at: 3ZZZ (309 Albert Street Brunswick) and SYN (Media Collective, RMIT University City Campus, Building 12, Level 3, Room 97, 402 Swanston Street, Melbourne)
About 3ZZZ & SYN: 

3ZZZ is Australia's largest multilingual community radio station represented by over 60 language/community groups 400 volunteers, 4,000 members and 400,000 weekly listeners.

3ZZZ broadcasts on 92.3 FM and DAB+ in Melbourne, and 3zzz.com.au worldwide, providing an independent, alternative, and local voice in the media.

SYN is a Naarm/Melbourne based community radio station providing media broadcasting and training opportunities to young people. We believe young people should be creators, not just consumers of media, that they are the experts of their own experiences and should have ownership over all parts of SYN.

Each year, SYN supports 300+ volunteers under the age of 26 to produce the radio, TV and online media that matters to them. This is in addition to the 3,500 school students have who take part in SYN’s Media Learning programs.

About the Role: 

3ZZZ and SYN require a Podcast Coordinator to manage an anthology podcast series, Stories of Community Resilience. The Podcast Coordinator will recruit, train, and support culturally and linguistically diverse people, young people, women, people with disability and LGBTIQ+ people to develop new skills in interviewing, storytelling, and audio production to produce their own Stories of Community Resilience. After hours and weekend work will be required with a Time off in Lieu process in place to maintain your work/life balance. 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities: 
  • Recruit, train and support a diverse group of volunteers to produce their own podcasts
  • Maintain, coordinate, and establish positive relationships with 3ZZZ and SYN staff and volunteers
  • Plan, produce and promote a podcast series to engage with our communities
  • Report to the Manager as needed
Desired Skills:
  • Experience producing a compelling storytelling podcast series
  • Experience recruiting, training, and supporting a diverse group of volunteers
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A strong understanding of, and active participation in, the local community media, music, arts, and cultural communities
