Got the best ears in the business? We’re looking for a brand new Music Director to define the sound of FBi Radio.
As FBi Radio’s Music Director, you will take the lead in shaping the sound of FBi Radio across FM, DAB+, online and on-ground projects, as well as playing a key role in ensuring that FBi Radio is a leading voice for local and emerging culture across a growing number of media platforms. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Music playlisting and curation across FM, DAB+, online and on ground projects
- Plan multi-platform music content including interviews, track premieres and content specials
- Develop multi-platform programming specials and other music-led initiatives throughout the year
- Manage auditioning and internal distribution of all music submitted to the station
- Maintain awareness of current releases, trends and new talent and encourage station collaboration between specialist and playlisted music
- Manage FBi relationships with all levels of music industry – local, national and international – and position FBi as an early and integral part of promotional campaigns
- Identify and support emerging talent
- Manage FBi’s monthly Music Open Day and foster outreach/relationships with relevant local arts organisations through the development of initiatives
- Work with Partnerships team to develop relevant FBi music partnership opportunities including ‘FBi Radio Presents’ and ‘The Live Feed’
- Work with Program Director to identify new specialist music talent
- Manage music volunteers – coordinate weekly music meetings with music team, oversee weekly playlisting/bio logistics, oversee projects (ie. CD library archive)
- Ensure station adheres to FBi’s music policy and license requirements
- Take full responsibility for music databases and archives – music library playout, MusicMaster scheduling software etc
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Proven music programming experience
- Proven experience in event programming and/or delivery
- Proven community engagement experience
- Ability to identify new trends in music
- Strong relationships with Australian music industry
- Thorough understanding of the role of FBi Radio
- Ability to program for a broad youth audience across multiple platforms
- Strong understanding of radio broadcasting and digital media landscape
- Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills, with a proven ability to manage competing priorities
- Can work in a team environment, especially with volunteers
DESIRABLE:
- Experience in cultural partnerships/collaborations
- Strong database management skills and administrative experience
