About the CBAA

Community broadcasting is a vital part of the Australian media landscape. The 450+ radio services broadcasting across Australia to over 5 million people each week play an important role in providing a voice for communities that aren’t adequately serviced by other broadcasting sectors, such as ethnic, Indigenous and other minority groups, as well as for independent local music.

The Community Broadcasting Assoc. Australia (CBAA) was born in 1974 from a desire to champion the sector by building those stations’ capability and creating a healthy environment for them to thrive. The CBAA is an internationally recognised not-for-profit organisation and represents over 90% of the sectors stations as members.

The Role and your responsibilities 

To assist the Content Services Manager and Community Radio Network team members across all content distribution and related activities for CBAA. The role works primarily with the Community Radio Network team and external contacts such as; community radio stations and producers.

  • Participate in planning and shaping of the Community Radio Network live programme grid.
  • Supporting program makers on provision of regular and special broadcast content.
  • Processing audio for broadcast and distribution, including responding to audio issues and other problems.
  • Scheduling content for broadcast with a minimal error rate.
  • Maintain external content for projects like Good Morning Country
Your success profile will include
  • Qualifications in radio broadcasting or equivalent work experience
  • Experience and demonstrated skills with audio editing and scheduling software (Audition or similar editing software in multi-track format, and scheduling software)
  • Strong computer literacy and willingness to use/learn a range of online tools (Salesforce, Slack, MS Office suite etc.)
  • Strong capacity to understand and follow editorial policy to achieve programming policy outcomes
  • Proven awareness and application of media law in a broadcast environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure
  • Proven organisational skills and ability to multitask
  • Interest in News and Current Affairs and the application that in an editorial context
  • Ability and willingness to undertake ad hoc emergency work outside office hours as required
  • Willingness to travel as required 
  • Commitment to CBAA’s Team Member competencies 
Desirable skills 
  • Experience in podcast production and distribution 
  • Graphic design and image manipulation skills 
  • Understanding of networking, FTP and broadcast equipment 
  • Familiarity with community broadcasting operation and issues in Australia
