POSITION: Content Manager (Sydney, NSW)

2RPH is a community radio station committed to providing a radio reading service to people who cannot read independently, or easily handle or understand printed material. Additionally, many people listen to 2RPH while they are driving or working, whilst others enjoy the diverse program and style provided by 2RPH. 

Based in Glebe, 2RPH read newspapers, magazines and books and broadcast across Sydney, Newcastle and the lower Hunter region. 2RPH are volunteer driven with approx. 200 volunteer presenters, broadcasting to over 100,000 weekly listeners, 24 hours per day. This role has the potential to be an influential opportunity for someone passionate about shaping content that will resonate across the community. 

The Content Manager (CMO) is responsible for the overall quality and strategic direction of the 2RPH programming delivered via broadcast, streaming and other platforms.  Working closely with the General Manager, Technical Manager and Program Advisory Group the CMO is also expected to manage stakeholder relationships and guide volunteer presenters. 

The role is part time, one day per week. The Content Manager is responsible to the General Manager.

Essential Criteria

  • Have a proven ability to create and implement program content that drives a strong brand
  • Have a proven ability and experience working with presenters to mutual benefit
  • Have excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills incorporating excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be knowledgeable about broadcasting trends and sector developments
  • Have a good understanding of program quality evaluation approaches, and techniques for assessing outcomes and wider impact
  • Have a strong work ethic and collaborative work approach.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of RPH protocols.
  • Knowledge of the disability and community sectors. 


  • Serve as editor-in-chief for all content to ensure quality, clarity and consistency of our product
  • Liaise with media and content agencies to increase knowledge of 2RPH and increase cross promotional opportunities
  • Liaise regularly with volunteer presenters to guide and refine programs
  • Consult online metrics and make improvements to content accordingly
  • Liaise with RPH stations around the Australia to foster program sharing
  • Oversee the updating and integration of on-air program promos
  • Keep current all key documents and data pertaining to programming
  • Work regularly with the Program Advisory Group, providing timely information and minutes
  • Manage the book reading program (selection, supply and audience feedback)
  • Inform both the General Manager and Technical Manager of broadcasting developments suitable for 2RPH.

Following an extensive recruitment process by the Board of 2RPH, the community broadcaster to people with disabilities has appointed Sancha Donald to the role of General Manager of the station.


A collaboration between theatre and radio is being revived with local community station, 2RPH bringing the Sydney production Little Fictions, to the airwaves.


The celebrations are already underway at local community radio station, Vision Australia Radio (VAR) 990AM, as their team of 80 plus volunteers mark the station’s second birthday this week.
