History repeats itself at SYN to mark 10 year milestone
Former SYN broadasters now working at Australia's most prominent media organisations will return to the youth-run community broadcaster for a special two day broadcast.
SYN marks 10 years of permanent broadcasting on January 28, 2013, and is bringing back some old favourites to celebrate.
The Back to SYN broadcast kicks off at 9am, Sunday January 27 with former breakfast show Toasted and finishes off on Monday January 28 at 8pm with the Sweetest 16 tracks of the past 10 years as voted by young people.
Back to SYN producer Dylan Leach, also a Triple M panel operator, says he's looking forward to taking the trip down memory lane and he's not the only one.
"We've got about 40 people coming back to relive their old programs across the two days and they're all bringing something different to the mix. It's no doubt going to be a real radio highlight for the Australia Day weekend," says Leach.
SYN General Manager Tahlia Azaria says the returning broadcasters will be some of the first to go to air from the station's brand new studios, which are being officially launched on January 30.
"With the help of our former broadcasters, the wider community and philanthropic support we've been able to upgrade the equipment in our two radio studios and we've built a third. This is huge for SYN and we're so excited to be able to share it with the people who helped make it happen," says Azaria.
Further announcements about Back to SYN programming and the presenters involved will be made in the lead up to the broadcast. Listeners can tune in to 90.7FM or digital radio in Melbourne or stream online at syn.org.au.
SYN provides training and broadcast opportunities to over 1000 people aged 12 to 26 every year.
