Fine Music 102.5 – in association with the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra and Choir – is proud to support a new generation of Australian composers with the annual Fine Music 102.5 Young Composer Award.

Each year Fine Music 102.5 in collaboration with Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, offers young composers up to the age of 30 years, the opportunity to enter an original composition set to a theme for the prospect of winning generous prizes including $5,000 and a world premiere performance for the winning original entry.

Fine Music Chair, Janine Burrus says; “This is a unique opportunity for young people to have their composition recognised, broadcast and performed by a full orchestra and to gain the experience of working directly with a conductor and professional musicians”.

“Fine Music is committed in its support of emerging musicians and composers through offering these invaluable development opportunities and awards programs,” says Ms Burrus.

The winner from 2015 was Sydney Conservatorium of Music student Solomon Franks with his piece Spectre performed by the Willoughby Symphony under the baton of Stephen Mould.

Further information is available at the Fine Music 102.5 website.
