Community Broadcasting Suicide Prevention Project - October 2014
The CBAA is pleased to welcome you to the October 2014 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.
Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.
This month we catch up with Lifeline CEO Jane Hayden to find out about the support they offer to people going through a tough time.
We hear about a new ReachOut.com campaign that aims to show young people that there’s life after Year 12 exams.
We chat to R U OK? campaign director Rebecca Lewis about their recent Conversation Bus Tour, a 5-week road trip through the heart of the country that encouraged all Australians to be even better mates by starting life-changing conversations with those around them.
We also learn about the SANE Forums, a new online peer-to-peer support service for carers and families, as well as people with lived experience of mental illness.
For more information on this project, please contact the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia on (02) 9310 2999, or email: [email protected]
