DDN Shorts F
DDN Shorts F is committed to featuring community service announcements for important campaigns. This is lead by the Energize project.

Energize

The ‘energize’ community education project has been developed by the CBAA, and funded by the NSW Government’s Climate Change Fund.

The project aims to promote a culture of wise energy use to
communities throughout NSW. A major focus of this one-year project is on promoting best practice in saving energy, using examples of businesses, households and community groups who have made a real difference in the way they use energy.

The project also provides people in New South Wales with practical tips on saving energy in the home and in their businesses, community organisations and schools.

Two five-minute and three 60-second audio tracks on energy efficiency are produced by the energize team.

This month (July 2008) we head south to the Snowy Mountains to look at some innovative energy efficiency and environmental management initiatives underway at Perisher Blue.

We talk to the Western Plains Zoo about the work they are doing to promote use of solar power.

And we look at a range of save energy while keeping your home warm this winter, including insulation.

  • 1. Perisher Blue Resort
    Dur: 5 minutes
FW: “Winter is a time of high energy use for many homes and businesses, with heating costs contributing significantly to our electricity bills…”
LW: “…supported by the New South Wales Government’s Climate Change Fund…”

  • 2. Western Plains Zoo
    Dur: 5 minutes
FW: “As anyone who has been to Dubbo and visited the Taronga Western Plains Zoo will tell you – it’s a great place to learn first-hand about the diversity of wildlife in Australia…”
LW: “…supported by the New South Wales Government’s Climate Change Fund…”

  • 3. Heating your home
    Dur: 60 seconds
FW: “I hate being cold in winter – but I hate my heating bills even more. So I’ve been thinking about how I can cut them down a bit …”
LW: “…supported by the New South Wales Government’s Climate Change Fund…”

  • 4. Windows and skylights
    Dur: 60 seconds
FW: “I’ve noticed how much of the heat and cold come through our windows at home and am now looking at ideas to keep our house warmer...”
LW: “…supported by the New South Wales Government’s Climate Change Fund…”

  • 5. Insulating your home
    Dur: 60 seconds
FW: “The house I live in at the moment was built in the early 70s and just isn’t keeping out the heat in summer or the cold in winter…”
LW: “…supported by the New South Wales Government’s Climate Change Fund…”
