National Projects Funding Battle Continues

Community broadcasting national sector projects Amrap and the Digital Radio Project continue to struggle with funding issues.

Community broadcasting national sector projects the Australian Music Radio Airplay Project (Amrap) and the Digital Radio Project (DRP) continue to struggle with funding issues.

Amrap currently has emergency funding in place until the end of 2012 and we hope the Federal Government will find solutions to fund the project for 2013 and beyond - for further information, click here. All Amrap services are being maintained to community radio stations and Australian musicians.

Community digital radio services are under threat in 2013 as the project battles with a $1.4m shortfall in funding. The Federal Government has allocated $2.2m to the project for the next four years but this is insufficient to maintain all current community digital radio services.

Greens Senator Scott Ludlam has recently posed questions to the Minister on both projects in the Senate Estimates process. The Minister confirmed the Government's commitment to media diversity and the role of community broadcasting in the digital environment. The CBAA expects further advice from the Minister's office by the end of October.
