A competition that promotes diversity and inclusion, the 4-hour broadcast from Easts Rugby Union Club will feature expert commentators, as well as some light-hearted half-time comments from 2SER's Gay Panic team.

The seventh Bingham Cup held, and the first in the southern hemisphere, this event welcomes international clubs from Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia. Its goal is to significantly increase the profile of the gay rugby locally and internationally, and to challenge homophobic stereotypes relating to gay men and sport and encourage gay men to participate in sporting activity.

The tournament is named after Mark Bingham, who was part of the San Francisco Fog gay rugby union team. Bingham died in the September 11, 2001 attacks onboard United Airlines Flight 93. He was one of a group of passengers who attacked the hijackers, which eventually led to them crashing the plane into a vacant field in Pennsylvania instead of targets in Washington.

Mark Bingham continues to be a significant role model in the gay community for strength and resilience, both significant elements in sport. Bingham Cup 2014 Ambassadors include John Eales, Nick Farr-Jones and Matty Johns, with strong community endorsements from Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir, Governor of NSW; the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull MP, Member for Wentworth, Federal Minister for Telecommunications, the Hon George Souris MP, NSW Minister for Tourism, Major Events Hospitality and Racing, Minister for the Arts; and Clover Moore, Lord Mayor of Sydney.

Live-only on CRN-2 (channel 631), Sunday 31 August from 12:00 to 16:00 EST

#WorldRadioDay: "We’re a young group of broadcasters that are trying to get a toehold in a very competitive industry so an opportunity to be a part of something like this is an honour, to have A-League, W-League, NBL and ABL is quite an achievement for a non-profit local station to acquire in the space of a few weeks."
