In a new collaborative venture, the Fine Music Network is celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of composer Richard Wagner by creating an exciting new 10-part series - Countdown to the Ring.

The series will explore and unravel the practical intricacies of, and cultural fascination with, Wagner's epic Ring Cycle which will be performed by Opera Australia in Melbourne later in the year.

Fine Music 102.5 (Sydney), 3MBS Fine Music Melbourne (Melbourne), 4MBS Classic FM (Brisbane), 5MBS (Adelaide) and ArtSound (Canberra), will all contribute to the series which has been produced with the assistance of the CBF.

Countdown to the Ring launched on January 23 with a special launch event held at the Hotel Windsor, Melbourne.

3MBS Chairman, Mr Alan Hutchison, Countdown to the Ring Executive Producer, Mr Joel Carnegie and Community Broadcasting Foundation President, the Hon. Peter Batchelor spoke to the elegantly dressed crowd, offering insights into the program, 3MBS Fine Music Melbourne and the broader community radio and arts sector.
