The CBAA is pleased to welcome you to the March 2014 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

This month we catch up with Lifeline CEO Jane Hayden to hear about the extended hours of operation of their highly successful Online Crisis Chat Service.

We hear about a new campaign beyondblue has launched to raise awareness about mental health in the LGBTI community.

We look at the support family and friends can provide for people experiencing mental illness, and we catch up with ReachOut CEO Jono Nicholas to find out about the support and information ReachOut.com provides to young people who are going through a difficult time.

We also profile a range of other suicide prevention and mental health services, including headspace, the Suicide Call Back Service, Kids Helpline, MensLine Australia, the Standby Response Service, R U OK?, and SANE Australia.

For more information on this project, please contact the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia on (02) 9310 2999
