The Government introduced a new Indigenous Advancement Strategy (IAS) on 1 July 2014, replacing more than 150 individual funding programmes and activities with five flexible, broad-based programmes:

  • Jobs, Land and Economy
  • Children and Schooling
  • Safety and Wellbeing
  • Culture and Capability
  • Remote Australia Strategies

Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Nigel Scullion, announced the first grant round for funding under the $4.8 billion Indigenous Advancement Strategy on Monday 8 September 2014, and the round closes at 2pm EDST on Friday 17 October.

In response, the Australian Indigenous Communications Association is offering grant writing assistance to support stations to maintain funding and take advantage of opportunities available in this new structure.

Stations can register for this assistance here.

For more information on the funding under the IAS, head here.
