The CBAA has negotiated an exclusive arrangement for members with Aon for insurance specifically designed for community broadcasters. From property to public liability cover, defamation to personal accident, Aon has a team of specialist risk managers that can assist with your particular needs.
But realistically, could it happen to me?
Yes! To date, Aon have responded to 37 claims, with insurers paying out over $280,000 in claims.
What type of cover do I need?
Your Aon insurance broker can provide advice on insurance solutions, but in the meantime, here’s an overview of the options that you may need:
Property Insurance provides cover for fire & perils, consequential loss, burglary, plate glass, money (up to $500) and special contingency.
Public Liability to protect organisations and staff/volunteers from third party legal action for personal injury and/or property damage. This cover does not provide libel and slander or defamation coverage and this should be purchased separately.
Voluntary Workers Personal Accident Insurance which includes accidental injury or death for volunteers whilst working.
Protector Liability provides combined cover for Professional Indemnity and Directors & Officers Liability insurance excluding libel and slander and defamation.
Defamation Insurance for cover against libel or slander, infringement or copyright, negligent advice, errors or omissions, misleading statements, invasion of privacy, improper disclosure of sensitive/private facts and many other similar claims.
