Understanding Accredited Training

While most community radio stations provide training to their broadcasters, much of this training is unrecognised with broadcasters receiving no official certification for their achievements.

Accredited training offers the community radio sector the opportunity to establish national standards in training between radio stations and to give certificates and statements to broadcasters which are recognised by the sector and the rest of the media industry.

The following information will help you understand the changes you will need to make to your training so that it can become accredited. While the task may seem daunting at first, remember, starting small is always best and the CBAA will partner you through the process.

You may want to take a look at the training which already exists in your station and see what changes you can make to it to bring it in line with an accredited short course. The following information explains some of the important aspects of this new training system.
