Alice Springs is the second largest town in the Northern Territory. The town is nearly equidistant from Adelaide and Darwin, close to the geographic centre of Australia.
The conference is being held on Arrernte country. We acknowledge the traditional owners of Alice Springs and pay respect to their culture and traditions. The Arrente Aboriginal people have made their home in the Central Australian desert in and around Alice Springs since time immemorial. The Aboriginal name for Alice Springs is Mparntwe.
There are many sites of traditional importance in and around Alice Springs, such as Anthwerrke (Emily Gap), Akeyulerre (Billy Goat Hill), Ntaripe (Heavitree Gap), Atnelkentyarliweke (Anzac Hill), and Alhekulyele (Mt. Gillen).
