1. Best Innovative New Program/Segment Idea
This award goes to a station with an innovative programming idea, which may include creativity, originality, outcomes, response and involvement from audiences.

2. Excellence in Training
The recipient of this award has undertaken a training initiative that had a significant impact on the ground, which may have helped solve organisational problem at the station or built teams. The initiative may have improved the quality of broadcasts or increased the station’s diversity by providing access for a broader range of people.

5. Excellence in Music Programming sponsored by the PPCA
This award is judged according to Codes 2 and 3 of the Community Radio Codes of Practice or Code 3 of the Community TV Code of Practice. Consideration is given to the broadcaster’s contribution to the audience’s development of informed musical appreciation.

6. Contribution to Indigenous Broadcasting presented by AICA
This award is for a station that over the past 12 months demonstrated its commitment to Indigenous broadcasting in keeping with Codes 2.7 - 2.9 of the Community Radio Code of Practice or Codes 3.7 – 3.9 of the Community TV Code of Practice.

Our next award recognises specialist programming undertaken by a station. The winning entry will serve a particular community need or provide in-depth information on a topic relevant to the station's audience.

13. Troy Garner Excellence in Sports Programming
It was only 2005, that the CBAA lost a dedicated staff member and friend in Troy Garner. This next award is offered in memory of Troy, a passionate sports broadcaster, and is in recognition of a station's significant contribution to sports programming. Programming which promotes community-based sporting activities that receive limited coverage in the wider media will be favourably looked upon. Thank you to the Garner family for contributing a cash prize for the winner.

14. Best Use of New Media Technologies
This award recognizes the best use of new technologies by community radio and television stations. The winning station may have used technology to develop innovative ways to deliver content, helped to train station volunteers, or may have improved management structures through the use of new media technologies.

15. Best News and Current Affairs Programming
Independent news and current affairs is one of the highlights of the community broadcasting sector. This award recognises excellence in this field and is open to regular programs or individual stories.

16. New Voices
The winner of the award demonstrated how they got new broadcasters from their community involved at their station.

17. Radio Station of the Year
This award is given to a station that can best demonstrate its dedication to the 'Guiding Principles of Community Broadcasting'.

18. Tony Staley Award
Tony Staley was instrumental in the development of the sector. This award recognizes activities that promote the values of community broadcasting – ‘democracy, diversity and independence’.

19. Michael Law Award
Michael Law was one of the founders of community broadcasting in the 1970s. The Michael Law Award is a prestigious honor conferred by the CBAA each year on an individual who has made a sustained and outstanding contribution to the sector.
