Offering a Program - the process

  1. Talk to CRN’s Network Services Manager about your idea or completed program (if already broadcast by your station) to get feedback (someone else may already be planning a similar program, practical advice, etc).

  2. If we're interested in your program, prepare a brief summary of the program proposal including running time, presentation style, feel of program and the listeners you are targeting.

  3. If we like the idea please submit a demo on preferably an audio CD.

  4. Complete the checklist (enclosed with the guidelines) when sending in your summary or pilot. Program makers (like all other providers of material that is broadcast on the satellite) must sign an agreement formalising the delivery of programs as outlined in the Guidelines.

  5. All programs are examined for technical skill: audio quality, levels, editing, scripting and presentation, but not for voice quality, presentation style or content provided the program meets the Community Radio Code of Practice. Provided a program meets the technical and music standards set, the program will then be scheduled given the availability of a time slot.

  6. A go-ahead, agreement with modifications or rejection will be given by the Network Services Manager.

  7. Should the program maker not be satisfied with the Content Manager's decision the program maker can lodge an appeal to the Satellite Advisory Committee c/- CBAA. Stations and program makers at stations are invited to contribute to CRN’s Sustaining Service under the rules as set out. Over a decade we have experienced most regular problems. So by meeting this long list of rules we believe stations, listeners and we will love your program. Good luck!
