Program Review Kit

Is you station or program sounding tired and predictable? Do you want to start a new year with a new sound? The following kit is designed to help station management, staff and program makers improve their programs.

Program evaluation sounds complicated. It can be time consuming and threatening if not managed well. However if it is managed well, it can be a fun, team-building exercise which can give your station or program a completely new sound and energy. If you don’t do any program evaluation at your station you risk volunteer stagnation, poor performance, burnout, conflict and a general deterioration in the station’s sound.

The size and resource levels of your station and the style of the program format will decide how often evaluation takes place. Some stations may be in a position to evaluate the entire program output on a regular basis. Other stations may target specific program areas or timeslots over the space of a year (eg. specialist music, drivetime, specialist talks, sports, non-English programming, etc).
