CRN is the national Community Radio Network. It's a way for stations all over Australia to share programs or short interviews/segments with each other via the CRN satellite, which broadcasts in real-time, 24 hours a day.
There are around 150 community radio stations accessing CRN news and specialist programs for rebroadcast on their local frequencies. Many stations also tune in for special broadcasts of national festivals, sporting and political events, documentaries and community service announcements.
Stations pay a flat quarterly fee (based on their income)and can then pick and choose as much or as little of the programs/content on offer as is suitable for their listeners.
The Digital Delivery Network
(DDN) now accessed by many stations, means that most CRN programs can be automatically recorded, for later broadcast at a time suitable to the station.
