The CBAA is choosing 20 young community broadcasters from all around the country to become the inaugural group of CBloggers! The successful applicants will be flown to Hobart, Tasmania, accommodated for 4 nights and be given access to the CBAA Conference 2010.
'The ideas surrounding CBloggers have been floating around for years, but really came to a head at last year’s CBAA conference youth caucus where it became very clear we needed to do something different for young people,' says Jonathan Brown, CBAA Youth Representative.
'So we pulled together the CBAA's Youth Engagement Committee and started throwing around ideas. Out of all this came the idea of CBloggers - or Community Bloggers. It's about giving young people the skills to effectively communicate their stories online and we thought what better place than at the CBAA conference? The conference represents a great opportunity to get a group of young people together doing something practical and engaging. The idea is to show that new platforms and technologies shouldn't be feared, but should be seen as an opportunity for our sector to engage with Australian communities in new ways.'
Produced with the assistance of the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy via the Community Broadcasting Foundation through the National Training Project.
This project has been assisted by Express Media through the Write in Your Face program devolved to Express Media by the Literature Board of the Australia Council of the Arts.
Applications closed Friday 20 August, and applicants will be notified by late September if they have been successful.
